Job description
Role: Inspector
Location: Manchester
Salary: Starting £45,000
Hours: Monday - Thursday 07:00 - 16:00, Friday 07:00 - 13:00
Job Purpose:
To carry out detailed mechanical inspection of aircraft components, parts and assemblies, identifying repairs to confirm compliance against CMM, SRM, AMM & IPC, customer requirements and internal procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Components returned from service requiring assessment against the CMM, SRM and OEM drawings.
- Perform incoming, in work and final inspection (including release to service) of aircraft components, parts and assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings, approved repair data, work instructions and customer specifications.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, fit and condition using appropriate calibrated tools and equipment.
- Carry out detailed visual inspection for wear, corrosion, damage, cracking indicators, deformation and other defects.
- Confirm material, process and traceability documentation aligns to job requirements.
- Complete inspection records, job cards, certificates and release packs clearly and accurately.
- Raise non-conformance reports and support investigation, containment and corrective actions.
- Work closely with production, planning, engineering and supply chain to resolve quality or technical issues quickly.
- Support internal and external audits by providing objective evidence and maintaining tidy, compliant records.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, human factors awareness and standard workshop controls.
- Inspection equipment and methods
- Micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges, thread gauges, radius gauges and surface finish comparators.
- CMM and digital measurement systems where available.
- Use of precision measuring techniques appropriate to aerospace tolerances.
- Typical component exposure
Qualification & Education:
Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Inspection related training desirable.
Experience within an EASA Part 145 or Part 21 environment is an advantage.
