Job description

Heat Treatment Technician – Aviation

£35,000

Permanent

Bishops Stortford

Client Overview:

The client is a leading aviation parts & components manufacturing / refurbishment company, who work across a range of business jet & commercial aircraft.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure Process Control Instructions (PCIs) are aligned with customer specifications.

• Read and interpret technical specifications, update PCIs in a controlled manner and sign off ready for peer review.

• Ensure training is given to the heat treatments team to enable the Heat Treatments Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to ensure compliance.

• Sign off training records with the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor to ensure compliance.

• Collaborate with the Quality Engineer on calibration issues, standards and specification revisions.

• Collaborate with the Technical and Safety Compliance Coordinator on pyrometry issues, standards and specification revisions.

• Perform hardness, conductivity and tensile load testing.

• Ensure that company heat treatment procedures and records are maintained in line with regulatory standards and highlight issues in a timely manner. This will include (but not limited to):

• Temperature data downloads/records.

• Thermocouple maintenance and replacements.

• Monthly MET test for ovens.

• Quench tank solids and media concentration testing/checks.

• Check Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) records are completed.

• Associated reports and materials to communicate information.

• Quench testing.

• Heat Treatment planning.

• Participate in MRB meetings to identify root causes and implement corrective/preventive actions.

• Contribute to Workplace organisation, including improvement projects.

• Perform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Company.

Additional areas of support:

• pH and concentration testing.

• Testing of degreaser.

• Testing of quench tanks for the ovens.

• Supported the HTRT team with running the degreaser.
