Job description

AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURING PLANNER

Location: Birmingham

Contract Type: Contract (Inside IR35)

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Manufacturing Planner to support aircraft maintenance, modification, and production activities within an aerospace environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate electronic work packages, manufacturing plans, and technical work instructions using approved engineering and maintenance data. You will work closely with engineering, production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure aircraft activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and maintain aircraft work packages, maintenance plans, and technical instructions.

• Interpret engineering drawings, technical publications, maintenance data, and modification instructions.

• Produce clear and accurate work instructions for aircraft maintenance and production teams.

• Manage configuration control, document revisions, and technical updates.

• Support technical queries from production and maintenance teams.

• Ensure work packages meet aviation quality and regulatory standards.

• Support continuous improvement of planning and production processes.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• Previous experience in aircraft maintenance planning, manufacturing planning, or technical planning.

• Experience producing aircraft work instructions or work packages.

• Ability to interpret aircraft technical documentation and engineering data.

• Knowledge of aviation maintenance processes and Part 145 requirements.

• Strong technical writing and document control skills.

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Experience supporting aircraft maintenance, repair, or modification activities.

• Previous experience within military aviation, defence aerospace, or commercial MRO environments.

• Knowledge of aviation quality systems and Safety Management Systems (SMS).

• Experience using planning or maintenance management systems such as GoldESP, AMOS, Maintenix, TRAX, or SAP PM.

We are looking for a detail-focused aviation professional with strong planning and documentation skills, who can translate complex technical information into clear and compliant work instructions while working effectively across engineering and production teams.
